Last week, I was so excited to be interviewed by my good friend Ryan Schlosser (AKA Yearbook… AKA California Dreamin’) on his podcast Walking and Talking: An Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike. Ryan and I met on night one of the AT, at Stover Creek Shelter, and we spent most of the 2nd day on trail hiking together. The last time we saw each other was at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), as he was hiking out that day and I was staying in the bunkhouse. Ryan produced this podcast while he was still on trail, and since finishing his NOBO thru-hike on August 7th, he has continued to interview guests and produce episodes. After I discovered his podcast in New Hampshire, I binged the whole thing throughout the Presidentials and the Wildcats to catch up.
In this conversation, we reminisce about some of our early memories of the trail and some of our mutual friends that Ryan caught back up with further north. I talk about my motivation for starting the trail, how I handled it drawing to a close, and what I want to do now that I am back into my “normal” life. I highly reccommend you give this episode, and others, a listen as Ryan is an excellent interviewer and the theme music is fantastic.
